Client: South African Tourism Event: Cocktail Function and Competition Launch Venue: MCA Balcony - 140 journalists and destination travel agents
Objectives: • Promote FIFA World Cup Soccer in South Africa and encourage people to travel to South Africa • Industry Networking • Celebrate Christmas • Launch competition to win tickets to visit South Africa and watch the FIFA World Cup
Outcome: Using a series of web based video invitations the CEO of South African Tourism personally invited guests to join them to watch the footy at ”our place” (www,vctv.com.au/sa1) . As a result of this creative use of video technology, the number of guests at the event were more than twice the anticipated attendance.
Verve Creative Events transformed level 5 of the MCA into the living room of a colonial South African home with lounges, arm chairs, South African Artworks and artifacts, a television showing football and foosball tables for guests to enjoy.
A sumptuous Brai (South African BBQ) along with South African music from a live band complimented the theme and allowed guests to experience the tradition of South Africa. Each unique destination in South African was highlighted through video footage and short presentations by the South African High Commissioner along with the CEO of South African Tourism.
To cap off the event, guests were shown the South African FIFA World Cup Diski Dance. A dance craze using various football moves to funky music shown all around the world. This unique dance not only promoted the world cup but also encourages people or all ages to get involved and enjoy the hysteria of FIFA world cup.
Verve Creative Events then managed Diski dance performances at a number of key public events in Sydney and Melbourne.
